Boat
These days most visitors use the excellent services of Boat Trip providers from Elgol. This is is an extremely attractive 30 minute journey across the sea to Loch Scavaig, with the Cuillins providing a jaw dropping backdrop.

Walk
The walk is 10Km, 3-4 hours including a scramble over slabs. Start at Kilmarie NG545173. Walk to Camasunary, (river crossing) then round the headland to the ‘bad step’ and over the Scavaig River on stepping stones. Difficult in spate conditions.
Booking the Hut
The hut is owned by the Glasgow JMCS and is available for hire by Mountaineering Scotland and BMC affiliated Clubs.
The hut fees are £15.00 per person per night with a minimum booking of 2 places and a stay of 2 nights. If there are more than 9 people in the party and you fully book the hut then a day charge of £10.00 is made for those camping but using the hut facilities. A maximum of 6 additional camping spaces is recommended. To make a booking, please use our Hut Availability and Booking section. Full payment is required to secure your booking.
Our Cancellation Policy is as follows:-
- Up to 3 Months notice – Full refund
- 3 months to 1 months notice – 50% refund
- Less than 1 months notice – No refund
Please note that no keys for general bookings are held locally on Skye. If you are interested in staying at the hut, please contact us well in advance to make a booking. The hut bookings are managed on a voluntary basis, response times can vary depending on other commitments. The key will be sent out in the post prior to your trip. Note that it may take up to five working days for you to receive the keys in the post.
