Sea Stack climb on Rum

Easter meet- Isle of Rum

The adventure kicked off as the group landed on the Isle of Rum, heavy bags slung and spirits high — though perhaps a little too heavy in Higgy’s case, who heroically hauled what can only be described as a six-man mansion of a tent all the way to the bunkhouse. After the initial slog, the mood lifted quickly that evening with a communal BBQ. Laughter, great food, and excellent company filled the air as everyone settled into island life.

Saturday brought a classic Rum hill day. Lee, Mark, Jeannie, and Higgy set their sights on Barkeval. The forecast had threatened worse, but conditions held fair enough for Lee and Mark to push on and bag Hallival too — a worthy addition with sweeping views and a good dose of leg-burn. That evening, the warmth of the bunkhouse was matched only by the atmosphere, as everyone gathered to celebrate Mark’s birthday, complete with food, cheer, and no doubt a dram or two.

Sunday served up the best weather forecast. With this in mind a number of parties made for the hills with Mark, Andrew and Vasco completing a full Rum Cuillin traverse in a very impressive time. Others went out for differing lengths of days all on the Rum Cuillin. Lee and Dean headed to Kilmory for some climbing and found some adventurous climbing on the apply named Tottering Stack (VS 4a).

Although the group were travelling back on the Monday. A late sailing meant most of the group made their own micro adventures across the island.

All in all, the trip was full of laughs, effort, and shared adventure — from hauling tents and climbing hills to surviving tottering towers of sketchy rock. Rum delivered, and then some.
