We had a great weekend at Raeburn Hut with better than expected weather on both days and great company in the hut (there was an SMC party of 6 sharing the hut with us).

Saturday saw Lyndsey, Kasia, Svetlana and I walk up a very cold and windy Carn Dearg in the Monadhliath mountains while Phil and Justine walked up Meall na Leitreach in Drumochter. We all got to experience the first snows of the winter on the ground, and occasionally in the air.

Approach to Carn Dearg

Vegetarian spaghetti Bolognese and blackberry crumble provided the evening’s nutrition with Talisker and Ben Bracken whisky helping to add to the enjoyment.

Phil and Justine walked up Caisteal Dubh in the rain after a change of plan due to the weather on Sunday. I managed to avoid the worst of the weather on my way up Meall na h-Aisre while Lyndsey and Kasia when for a short, wet walk, close to the hut and Svetlana visited the Singleton distillery on her way back to Skye (she took the scenic route home!)
