Big thanks to MCIs Neil (JMCS member) and Will (friend of Neil’s) who ran a great self-rescue course for 8 members of the club.
We were lucky with the weather and Neil’s choice of venue (Auchinstarry quarry) was excellent, providing just the correct balance of trees, steep grass banks, nice location (the autumn colours were superb) and, importantly not too far to drive!
We covered:
- abseiling past a knot
- Assisted hoists
- Unassisted hoists
- Various forms of escaping the system and
- Recovering an injured climber on abseil.
