Campsie Glen Clear-Out

Calling all volunteers!

A couple of months ago I went for an evening saunter up the burn in Campsie Glen. I was shocked to discover all sorts of rubbish trapped in the water – from common household items to car parts and even tyres! It is a real shame to see what should be a treasured scenic spot ruined by litter.

In an effort to change this, I am organising a meet for next Wednesday where hopefully as a group we will be able to make a difference to clear some of the waste from the water and banks of Campsie Glen. I have attached a general plan which outlines some considerations for PPE and equipment. If you wish to help out – please read this through! As mentioned in the plan, there will be three main teams – a water-based team, a bank team and a sorting team, with additional people needed to move heavier items from the water to the banks. Please consider which team you would like to be in and bring appropriate PPE. Water-based teams are likely to be assigned to climbers/ scramblers. Soft gloves and bags will be provided, but you may be required to take thicker gloves too. Head torches and waterproofs are recommended!
